What's the fatal attraction of the ALC hybrids? It's fatal in the sense that once you've lived with one that's beeen properly socialized you realize just how special they are.
Their unique beauty is enough to attract most of us, and what other example of the wild forest cat can fit into our homes as comfortably and easily as this small hybrid if properly raised and bottle fed as a kitten. Make no mistake, because if it isn't, it will probably never meet expectations as a pet. It may be incorrigible and have poor litter box habits.
However, responsible breeders have learned over the past 15 years many ways to socialize these hybrid kittens successfully, which was once thought to be impossible. I've found that these cats continue to need positive reinforcement, particularly whole females kept for breeding purposes. Once these females become hormonal, they may become aloof, and instinct may kick in during kittening. A lot depends on the temperament of the sires of the hybrids, which are usually Bengals beyond the 4th and 5th generations, and of several generations of good temperment.
When I watch my cats glide across the room, every movement demonstrating their ancient heritage, I marvel at their beauty....so these are the queens who are the foundation of our line, have captured our hearts, and we feel so lucky to have them and to be living the dream.
F1 Wildsafari Song of Greenmansions Date of Birth: 01-24-1999
ALC Zarboo of Wildsafari x Wildsafari's Isis. These photos of Song taken on 01-06-2007.
Song is a stunning queen, excellent mother and the anchor of our Bengal program. Extreme in type, which is expected of a first generation offspring of the ALC and a domestic queen, she displays the wild stride with low tail carriage. Cat Fanciers often refer to a show cat as being "extreme." This means that the cat identified displays a more highly developed conformation than described in the current breed standard.
Among Song's notable features are her small ears, brown eyes, unique facial markings, rosetting, silky coat, thick tail, very long body, gray-white, spotted belly, primordial pouch, knuckled paws, and long, straight back legs in comparison to her forelegs. She has the random markings on her chest similar to the ALC. Her shoulders are slightly lower than her hips, with the accent on power available in her rear quarters to spring for her prey or leap to safety. She is poetry in motion. Backskull is larger than in a domestic--perhaps the reason the wild cats are well-known for their intelligence.

Brown Marble Tabby Bengal
Brown Marble Tabby "Una's" unique pattern is one of the most exciting among marbled Bengals. Her tiny ears, thick tail, whited tummy, and large, wild-eyed look easily identify her as a second generation kitty. Her head and expression exemplify the look of the wild.
